Background
Visa Asians Standing Together (VAST) is the Asian employee resource group (ERG). As a member of the newly created Bellevue chapter, I design print and digital communications as part of the leadership team's larger effort to elevate our presence and invite colleagues to celebrate with our community.
Inspiration
Illustrations
I illustrated a mix of well-known symbols and a few in-group cultural elements to balance representation with recognizability. In addition to some of the iconic ones like oranges, dumplings, lanterns, and red envelopes, I incorporated a few fun additions like the Korean game yutnori, Vietnamese bánh chưng rice cakes, traditional money pouches, and a subtle dancheong flower pattern background.
Typefaces
Bungee Shade seemed like a fitting mix of space exploration vibes (for the lunar element) and a funky, urban feel. It worked well for making the event title the main character of this visual. The secondary details use the Visa Dialect typeface in alignment with our internal design system.
